Jams, jellies and marmalades
Rose Cottage Country Kitchen produces a range of home made Scottish jams and preserves - and they're all genuinely hand made.
Many companies will claim their products are hand made when all they've done is cut the lemons in half before putting all their ingredients into a big vat, using a jarring machine to fill once it's cooked.
But not at Rose Cottage Country Kitchen. The only machine in our kitchen is a food processor. Our products are cooked in small batches in open pans on a domestic cooker.
Jars are sterilised in the oven, just as you would do at home, and then filled lovingly by hand.
Our recipes are full of fruit - the majority of jams being a 50/50 mix of fruit and sugar - using good old fashioned recipes.
Most fruit comes from local farms - soft fruit comes from nearby Wester Hardmuir and Ryefield; blackcurrants are from a nearby organic croft. The citrus is sourced locally from an independent outlet.
Most jams are made with 50 per cent fruit, the jellies with at least 60g fruit per 100g and the marmalades around 45g.
This, we believe, makes all the difference to the taste.
No artificial ingredients are used in the making of these preserves.
